The Autumn Is Here and so is Amazing Songs & Other Delights #32 – The Autumn Is Here edition that airs tomorrow, Monday 10th, on Yé Yé Radio: https://yeyeradio.com/ (or on the app) 3-4pm (Lisboa/London time).
The 16 chosen songs don’t directly have to do with Autumn as in having Autumn on the title or so, more with having what to me is an Autumnal feeling.
There will be jazz (Arkadia Jazz All-Stars), there will be crooners (António Vale da Conceição), there will be Bowie, there will be 90s popisih (Heavenly), there will be a mercury prize nominee (Jessie Buckley & Bernard Butler), there will be Mick Karn, sorry, Japan, there will be a fictional producer that once lived in downtown new york above a shop among his uncle’s records and so (Wolf Manhattan), there will be Cream, but of course there will, and there will be more, much more. Tune in.
Amazing Songs & Other Delights #31 – The Heroin Diaries can now be listened to at Yé Yé’s mixcloud.
The Heroin Diaries is the name of one of Nikki Sixx ‘s (Motley Crue’s bassist) memoirs.
The 16 songs on the tell it in my place the trials, struggles, sorrows and losses from heroin addiction that so many friends, acquaintances, neighbours, people I work with, strangers and, of course, musicians and other artists who paid the price for.
When I start reading through my 80s diaries I was surprised to find so many around me using it. Surprised in the sense I had totally forgot about it. Also, by then, and again now, Porto had a serious heroin addiction problem. In recent years I’ve had a few less than cool encounters with people asking me where to buy heroin and the likes because when you’re “strung out on heroin” all you think about is beetlebum, chasing the dragon, brown sugar since she’s a cruel mistress.
Monday, September 26th, 3-4pm Running time: 60m
Tracklist: 01: James Brown – King Heroin 02: Bert Jansch – Needle of Death 03: Blur – Beetlebum 04: G.G. The Heroin Diaries is the name of one of Nikki Sixx’s (Mötley Crüe’s bassist) memoirs. It is also the name of Amazing Songs & Other Delights #31 that airs tomorrow, Monday 26th, 3-4pm (Lisboa/London time) on Yé Yé Radio: https://yeyeradio.com/ (or on the app) Are you trying to tell us something, Raquel? Shall we be concerned? No, not about myself. The 16 songs on the programme – from James Brown to The Dandy Warhols, though a Warren Zevon classic, Bert Jansch and others – tell it in my place: the trials, struggles, sorrows and losses from heroin addiction that so many friends, acquaintances, neighbours, people I work with, strangers and, of course, musicians and other artists who paid the price for.
When I start reading through my mid/late 80s diaries I was surprised to find so many around me using heroin. Surprised in the sense I had totally forgot about it. Also, by then, and again now, Porto had a serious heroin addiction problem. In recent years I’ve had a few less than cool encounters with people asking me where to buy heroin and the likes because when you’re “strung out on heroin” all you think about is beetlebum, chasing the dragon, brown sugar since Charlie is a cruel mistress.

Madonna also turns up and the party is swell, on the beach with colourful balls, cocktails, and lots of fun. Madonna also turns up and the party is swell, on the beach with colourful balls, cocktails and lots of fun.
Amazing Songs & Other Delights #28 is The I’m Looking For… edition and airs tomorrow, Monday 6th, 3-4pm (gmt+1) on Yé Yé Radio: https://yeyeradio.com/ (or on the app). I had no idea what I was looking for, but ended up with 16 songs about looking, searching for, not looking for, maybe it is found, maybe not and whatnot. The songs choice is very ecletic, from The Chi-lites to Iggy And The Stooges throught The Cramps, Belle and Sebastian, Eminem, Rádio Macau, Fat White Family. And, of course, that 80s every-indie-kid-and-radio-dj-hit Looking for Lewis and Clark by The Long Ryders. The show starts smooth, goes by a 80s-90s cult bands phase, with a twist, and a drop of 00s, says hi to the big names, yes, there is hip-hop toos, tags along rock’and’roll and dance music and ends with a big blast. Everything a proper June show must have. 🙂
