Good morning with our Middle of the Week Song the fabulous Prince Stash by David J, Nick Zimmer, Zumi Rosow.
There are songs, and there are songs. What David J (Bauhaus/Love and Rockets), Nick Zimmer (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and Zumi Rosow (Black Lips) created in Prince Stash belongs to the second. A psychedelic incantation about 1960s counter-culture Prince Stash. In the 60s he toured with Vince Taylor Band, worked with The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, and more. He is an artist, alchemist, esoteric writer.
Prince Stash – Prince Stanislas Klossowski de Rola is the son of painter an artist Balthus (Count Balthasar Klossowski de Rola) and Baroness Antoinette de Watteville.
And, as the song’s lyrics say, he does indeed lives in an Italian castle. If you’re as curious about him you as I am you can take a look at his site https://princestash.com/ It’s as fascinating as he is.
There’s also a very interesting interview in The Guardian.
If there’s a song I would have liked to have written, this is one of them. Prince Stash is a true gem of a song.
Prince Stash lyrics
Makumba
You pass like a ghost
Through the tapestry of time
Sorcerer and magus
Groover divine
Dandy and shaman
Aristocrat dude
Impeccable manners
Oh, you’re never rude
King’s Road sage
Aquarian mod
With a lock of Brian Jones’ hair
A talisman keepsake
Kept in the box
And sequestered in the Nowhere
Through a haze of incense
And hashish smoke
You conjure up a djinn
As the ghosts of Nico, Anita
And Marianne step in
You and your exotic harem
You and your fine vintage wine
You with a ring on each finger
Living the life sublime
Living the life sublime
With the Madcap in the mountains
Only one of you came back
With the Nazz in Notting Hill
Vince Taylor soon to crack
You with alchemical secrets
You with your drums full of rain
As you practice meditation
In the fast lane
In the fast lane
On and on and on you go
Prince Stash
On and on and on you go
Prince Stash
On and on and on you go
Prince Stash
On and on and on you go
Prince Stash
Prince Stash
Prince Stash
Through ventricle connection
You surge like a current
Oxygen and blood
An electrical storm
The dissemination of occult knowledge
The removal of masks
In your Italian castle
The walls have taken an oath
